About The Position

Our client is seeking a Data Warehouse Administrator with strong Greenplum expertise to join their Enterprise Data Platforms team. This role is part of the Technology Reliability Engineering and Operations (TREO) organization, which supports mission-critical IT operations across hosting, security operations, BI infrastructure, collaboration tools, and end-user support. The TREO team operates across 15+ states and three countries and emphasizes operational excellence, modernization, and reliability. The Data Warehouse Administrator will collaborate closely with IT teams, developers, business users, and infrastructure partners to ensure high performance, availability, and security across large-scale data warehouse environments. The environment includes six Greenplum clusters spanning dual data centers. On-call rotation is 24/7, shared across three team members. Candidates must be willing to work Mountain Time Zone hours.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Greenplum administration experience, including performance tuning and optimization for large data sets
  • Proficiency with Greenplum tools: MADlib, PXF, GPCC, gpfdist, gpload, gpbackup, gprestore, gpdr backup/restore
  • Strong SQL development skills and experience in data warehousing environments
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting and Python
  • Experience working within UNIX/Linux (RHEL) environments
  • Automation-focused mindset with a passion for streamlining database operations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Experience with ETL technologies such as IBM DataStage or similar
  • Background with Data Domain storage solutions
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Experience with Databricks and Spark-based data processing
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain database system software with a focus on security, resiliency, and performance
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance and resource utilization
  • Maintain system documentation, database dictionaries, and support tools
  • Contribute to strategic, architectural, and tactical planning for database and data warehouse environments
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to teams on database systems and tools
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve performance and reliability
  • Implement backup, replication, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
  • Define, implement, and enforce database standards and best practices
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule
