About The Position

About This Role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer in Technology as part of Cybersecurity. Learn more about the career areas and lines of business at wellsfargojobs.com. We are seeking a highly talented Visualization Expert to transform vast, complex, and sensitive security and financial datasets into clear, actionable, and intuitive visual stories. You will design and build interactive dashboards, executive-level visualizations, investigative tools, and real-time monitoring interfaces that accelerate decision-making for fraud detection, threat hunting, incident response, risk assessment, and compliance reporting. This role combines strong data visualization craftsmanship with deep domain understanding of security/fraud challenges, the ability to handle regulated data (PII, PCI, GLBA), and expertise in storytelling under high-stakes conditions where seconds matter. In this position you will: Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, heat maps, network graphs, timelines, Sankey diagrams, geo-visualizations, and custom views using tools like Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or open-source alternatives to surface insights from security logs, transaction streams, authentication events, threat intelligence, and behavioral data. Translate complex security & fraud concepts (e.g., attack chains, money mule networks, anomalous transaction clusters, lateral movement patterns) into intuitive visual narratives for diverse audiences: SOC analysts, fraud investigators, C-level executives, regulators, and data scientists. Collaborate closely with data engineers, security analysts, threat hunters, fraud modelers, and investigators to identify visualization needs, refine requirements, iterate on prototypes, and ensure visuals accurately reflect underlying data models and ML outputs. Build real-time / near-real-time visualization solutions integrated with streaming platforms (Kafka, Spark Streaming) to support live monitoring of fraud attempts, active breaches, or emerging threats. Create investigative visualization tools—such as link analysis graphs, timeline explorers, entity resolution views, and drill-down capabilities—to accelerate root-cause analysis and case resolution. Ensure data security & compliance in all visualizations: implement row-level security, data masking, access controls, audit trails, and anonymization techniques while adhering to financial regulations (GLBA, PCI-DSS, SOX, etc.). Establish visualization best practices, design standards, reusable component libraries, color palettes, accessibility guidelines, and performance optimization strategies tailored to security & fraud use cases. Partner with platform teams to integrate visualization layers with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) and modern BI tools in secure environments. Participate in agile ceremonies, design reviews, and occasional on-call support for critical visualization components used in production security operations.
