About The Position

Impact Genome (IG) is a fast-growing SaaS company on a mission to change how the world measures social change. We verify the real-world impact of government programs, NGOs, and nonprofits—helping them prove what works and why. At the center of our work is the Impact Genome Registry, the first-ever database with outcomes and cost benchmarks for over 2.2 million social programs. Federal, state, and local agencies, as well as Fortune 500 companies, use it to track results, uncover “what works,” and invest where their dollars will have the greatest impact. For nonprofits, we make evaluation fair, consistent, and less burdensome—so they can spend more time creating change and less time on reporting. Our mission is simple: help the world shift from “giving money away” to investing in proven outcomes that create the maximum possible social good. We are seeking a part-time or full-time Data Storyteller / Data Visualization Analyst to help transform how nonprofits and funders use impact data to invest in social change. We’re looking for someone creative, ambitious, and entrepreneurial who is passionate about transforming raw data from our Registry into compelling, beautiful, interactive reports and visualizations within Power BI Embedded. The ideal candidate will combine an elevated design aesthetic with a sixth sense for how to present data to inform and inspire better decision-making among external stakeholders, such as customers. This role is mostly remote, though it is strongly preferred that candidates be located near one of our hub cities: Toronto, Chicago, or Washington DC.

Requirements

• Proven experience with Power BI Embedded, including report creation, customization, and integration into web applications or business platforms
• Ability to create reports that can be shared in multiple modalities, such as web, mobile, and PDF, ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences
• Demonstrated expertise in creating and leveraging data visualizations within the Power BI Embedded environment
• Experience gathering requirements from stakeholders and delivering data-driven solutions that answer key business questions
• Ability to take initiative, fully own tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Entrepreneurial, “can-do” attitude and comfort with ambiguity; multi-dimensional thinker

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Node.js or similar JavaScript frameworks, especially in the context of embedding or customizing Power BI dashboards is a plus
• Knowledge of other data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, D3.js) is also a plus

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain engaging data visualizations and external-facing reports using Power BI Embedded, ensuring a seamless and insightful user experience
• Collaborate with social impact stakeholders, such as funders and non-profits, to understand analytical needs and translate complex data sets into clear, actionable stories
• Leverage best practices in data visualization and user interface design to present findings in an accessible and visually appealing manner
• Create processes that allow for rapid modifications and customizations of reporting.
• Document processes for transparency and knowledge sharing
• Stay up on the latest trends and advancements in data visualization and storytelling
• Leverage AI-driven tools, such as Power BI Q&A, to enable intuitive exploration and interaction with data for stakeholders
