About The Position

Guidehouse is seeking a data scientist to support client engagements through data analysis, visualization, prototyping, dashboarding and insight development. The analytic support will be focused on describing epidemiologic patterns, causes, and effects of health and disease conditions in defined populations. This role involves informing epidemiologic study design, analyzing, and interpreting health data to inform decision making, disease prevention strategies, and policy development. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, hands-on experience with Power BI and other analytics tools (Python, R, SQL), familiarity with healthcare (CMS, EHR) and/or public health data, and the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Data Scientists at Guidehouse work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, support client deliverables, and contribute to high-impact solutions across public and commercial sector clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Business, Information Systems, or a related field
  • A minimum of ONE (1) year of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports using Power BI
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and SQL (or similar query languages)
  • Experience translating business questions into analytical solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and work effectively in a team-based consulting environment
  • Willingness to travel as required by client engagements
  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.

Nice To Haves

  • Consulting or professional services experience
  • Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
  • Experience working with claims data or complex datasets
  • Familiarity with epidemiologic concepts and best practices
  • Experience with other BI or analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, Python, R)
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Azure)
  • Experience supporting public sector or regulated industry clients

Responsibilities

  • Gather and translate business requirements into analytical and reporting solutions
  • Analyze structured and semi-structured datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights
  • Collaborate with clients to design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support client decision-making
  • Perform data validation, cleansing, and transformation to ensure data quality and integrity
  • Support client presentations and deliverables by clearly communicating analytical findings
  • Collaborate with project teams, leadership, and client stakeholders to support project objectives
  • Document data sources, assumptions, methodologies, and processes
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytics and reporting practices
