About The Position

The Data Strategist plays a key role in advancing equitable access to services by analyzing demographic, service delivery, community engagement, and other data through the lens of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). This position identifies trends, gaps, and opportunities to expand and improve services for all customers, especially historically underserved populations. By transforming complex data into actionable insights, this position supports strategic planning, program development, and policy decisions that promote inclusion and equity across the Library District. This role collaborates closely with internal teams to ensure data-informed practices which reflect the diverse needs of the communities the Library District serves. Sno‑Isle Libraries is seeking a Data Strategist to help advance equitable access, informed decision‑making, and community‑centered service across Snohomish and Island counties. This role transforms data into meaningful insights that guide organizational strategy, improve services, and elevate the needs of the communities we serve—especially those historically underserved. This role collaborates closely with internal teams to ensure data-informed best practices. The schedule for this position is flexible, and the selected candidate may be called to work evenings or weekends. There is an option for remote work.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills including knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Develop robust forecasting models and apply advanced data analysis to inform strategic planning.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs that support data analysis, visualization, and communication such as Microsoft Power BI and AI tools.
  • Understanding of equity principles and experience working with demographic data.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to present data to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse teams.
  • Ability to adjust analytical approaches based on evolving priorities or organizational needs.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize due dates.
  • Ability to uphold the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and the community.
  • Willingness to stay updated on EDI research, data ethics, and emerging analytics tools.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field required.
  • Five or more years of experience in data analytics and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to identify data needs, deliver actionable insights and analysis to support strategic and community centered decision making.
  • Deliver complex data findings into clear, accessible, and actionable recommendations and insights for diverse audiences.
  • Support the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs), benchmarks, and progress measures for equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI), and service outcomes.
  • Identify and curate data needs and definitions.
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of surveys, questionnaires, and focus groups for customers and staff, ensuring adherence to sound research and evaluation principles.
  • Conduct statistical analyses to evaluate the impact of programs, services, and policies on diverse communities.
  • Use forecasting models, scenario analyses, and trend tracking to assess and improve library services and strategic performance.
  • Evaluate new data sources, enrichment partners, and technologies to strengthen the marketing data ecosystem.
  • Make recommendations to inform data-driven decision-making for building a Library District roadmap.
  • Partners with Information Technology to design and maintain secure, efficient data systems and processes for collections, reporting, analysis, and archiving.
  • Ensure data integrity, privacy, and compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and practices.
  • Manage data projects from planning through implementation and evaluation.
  • Coordinate data gathering and validation across departments for external submission and surveys.
  • Contribute to the development of and updates to the Library District’s strategic plan and organizational goals.
  • Identify and report on key operational metrics and trends to support ongoing performance improvement.
  • Stay current with best practices in data analysis, research methods, and library assessment to advance organizational learning.
  • Build and support organizational knowledge, growth, and ongoing competency development of data analysis and use.
  • Collect and analyze data, including but not limited to demographic, service delivery, and community engagement from internal and external sources. Data will be reviewed with an equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI)-related lens, when applicable.
  • Assists with special projects as required.
  • Serves on various library committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
