About The Position

AssetMark is seeking a Data Steward to support data governance activities and ensure the quality, integrity, and security of organizational data. In this role, you will monitor data quality metrics, maintain data documentation, and support compliance monitoring. You will work closely with business, product, and engineering stakeholders to resolve data-related issues and support the implementation of governance policies and procedures. We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to one of our following offices: Charlotte, NC or Phoenix, AZ.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and compliance requirements.
  • Must have strong business and data analysis skills and be able to understand and document complex business processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with ability to analyze datasets and problem-solve.
  • Experience monitoring data quality and maintaining documentation.
  • Experience in writing queries with varying architecture in SQL and SQL Server 2008 R2.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with business and technical teams.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools and technologies.
  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, demanding and dynamic work environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Data Science, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in data stewardship, data governance, or related roles.
  • Experience supporting data governance processes and compliance initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of relevant business experience working in the financial services industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support data governance activities by following established procedures and participating in governance committees.
  • Monitor data quality metrics, implement corrective actions, and maintain data documentation, including glossaries and lineage.
  • Assist with compliance monitoring, audit requirements, and documentation of stewardship activities.
  • Provide guidance to business users on governance practices and support user adoption initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business users to resolve data-related issues and validate business rules and data requirements.
  • Execute governance processes and procedures consistently, supporting project coordination and stakeholder communication.
