About The Position

The Country Officer for Data Protection will act as the central point of contact and coordinating instance for all data protection related issues for all US companies within the Liebherr Group. The officer will be providing expert and professional support to ensure that US companies within the Liebherr Group comply with applicable national data protection regulations relevant to the handling of personal and business data. The tasks will include setting up/designing a data protection organization within the United States and subsequently establishing it with the necessary data protection responsibility company officers. As the central point of contact key data protection issues and topics in the country will be managed. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data protection, compliance, or a related field.
  • Experience in a corporate environment is highly desirable.

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CIPT) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination and conceptional instance in the US
  • Structuring of the data protection organization in the US.
  • Responsible for the creation, implementation and maintenance of the data protection policies, processes and organization in the United States.
  • Implementation of necessary processes (incident, data subject requests, risk assessment, data mapping, etc.).
  • Supports the various US companies in implementing the requirements of the IT data protection regulations.
  • Organization and implementation of data protection training measures.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of data systems to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions
  • Advice and support in data protection issues.
  • Central clarification of data protection-related issues and topics in the USA (central unit for data protection).
  • Preparation of guidelines on processes, specifications, recommendations for action, etc..
  • Provide clarification and guidance regarding issues and questions relevant to data protection to company officers, management, and internal Liebherr employees as required.
  • Incident Management: Manage and respond to data breaches and other data-related incidents, ensuring timely resolution and reporting to relevant authorities.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the development of regulations in the USA.
  • Serves as the centralized subject matter expert with regards to any applicable national or state data protection relevant regulations to be able to support US companies and the company officers.
  • Record, monitor and provide data on the development of regulations on the state and federal levels for data protection related topics.
  • Monitoring compliance with data protection policies and requirements.
  • Acts as the Data Protection Company Officer for Liebherr USA, Co. and Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News, Co.
