POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for meeting the data management needs of the Quality department, in collaboration with nursing, administration and hospital departments and divisions. The Data Manager is responsible for the supervision of abstractor teams, ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of registry, New York State and regulatory agency data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master’s Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration or Healthcare Informatics preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities required.
  • Technically proficient with exceptional data and analytics skills.
  • 3+ years healthcare analytics experience with working knowledge of utilization, project and/or quality management required.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.

Responsibilities

  • Manages Data staff to maximize productivity, increase efficient workflow among staff and meet the information demands of the department.
  • Serves as a resource for Quality and Performance Improvement (QAPI) in collecting, analyzing, and reporting of data.
  • Designs and implements data collection systems.
  • Partners with the QAPI leadership teams to guide data-driven hospital-wide improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures the data entered into NYS databases The Society for Thoracic Surgeons (STS), and ACCNCDR Registries are accurate and timely.
  • Encourages staff to look for ways to maximize productivity and increase efficient workflow among colleagues to meet the information demands of the department.
  • Serves as a resource to multi-disciplinary Performance Improvement teams regarding preparation and design of data collection tools, analysis of statistical data, validity and reliability data checks.
  • Assures timeliness and accuracy of data requests from internal and external agencies.
  • Assists with the development of reports for use in the credentialing and privileging process.
  • Maintains open lines of communication between QAPI Department and Hospital leadership
  • Manages competing priorities effectively and shows initiative in overcoming obstacles to meet objectives so that projects/assignments are completed in a timely manner.
  • Fosters a spirit of team work and utilizes conflict management skills effectively.
