About The Position

The Foundational Data Engineering & Services (FDE&S) organization partners closely with business and technology teams to deliver trusted, actionable data products that power enterprise insights. The Data Management Strategy & Governance Advisor plays a critical role in shaping and delivering high‑quality enterprise data solutions. This role brings deep analytical expertise to data profiling, mapping, and validation across complex data environments. Working within an Agile team, the Advisor collaborates closely with a Technical Product Owner and solution partners to translate business needs into reliable, well‑governed data assets that support Cigna’s customer‑centric growth strategy.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in data analysis, data mining, or data informatics within complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience writing and analyzing SQL to profile, validate, and troubleshoot data.
  • Demonstrated experience with data profiling, data mapping, data validation, and data warehouse concepts.
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing code to research and resolve data issues using SQL and/or Python.
  • Proven ability to define, document, and communicate data requirements clearly.
  • Experience working independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with a consultative, team‑oriented approach.
  • Experience working in Agile or SAFE delivery models.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with tools and technologies such as Teradata Studio, Toad, Git, Alation, Collibra DIC, Teradata Vantage, Databricks, AWS, SAS, Java/Scala, JSON, Bash scripting, PL/SQL, or Transact‑SQL.
  • Experience supporting healthcare or clinical data domains such as Claims, Membership, Client Structure, Benefits, or Utilization Management.
  • Prior experience working with enterprise data governance or data modeling teams.
  • Experience within Cigna or familiarity with CCW and enterprise data warehousing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and research enterprise data to support data mapping, lineage, and business understanding across source and target systems.
  • Validate data quality and integrity by developing and executing SQL‑based comparisons between source and target datasets.
  • Identify, document, and communicate data gaps, risks, and remediation approaches in partnership with delivery and product teams.
  • Define and help design new business views and data structures that enable clear, consistent, and actionable insights.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and data governance teams to organize, manage, and optimize enterprise data assets.
  • Serve as the data subject matter expert for an Agile Scrum team, providing guidance and insight to stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve data processes, tools, and practices that enhance customer experience or create meaningful differentiation.
  • Capture, validate, and summarize outcomes after data solutions are deployed to production using tools such as SQL, Python, and Teradata.
