About The Position

The Data Loss Prevention Engineer supports the agency by implementing and sustaining enterprise data protection capabilities that align with federal statutes, compulsory directives, agency policies, and industry best practices. The role enhances the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of the agency’s information by engineering solutions that monitor and safeguard data in motion, at rest, and in use. This position contributes to measurable risk reduction and improved operational resilience by supporting enterprise DLP operations and integrating data protection functions across cybersecurity domains. The engineer works collaboratively with vulnerability management, security infrastructure, incident response, and continuous diagnostics teams to strengthen the agency’s overall security posture. Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of cybersecurity experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline; or an additional three years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge of data loss prevention concepts, technologies, and operational processes.
  • Understanding of data protection for endpoints, networks, cloud environments, and enterprise productivity platforms.
  • Ability to analyze data events to identify risk, policy violations, or anomalous behavior.
  • Experience working within environments that follow federal cybersecurity standards and policies.
  • Strong communication skills to support coordination with technical and operational cybersecurity teams.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise DLP technologies to protect data in motion, at rest, and in use.
  • Support the development and enforcement of DLP policies and rulesets in alignment with federal and agency requirements.
  • Monitor, analyze, and triage DLP events to identify risks or policy violations.
  • Collaborate with security infrastructure, vulnerability management, incident response, threat hunting, and other cybersecurity teams to improve enterprise data protection.
  • Support continuous diagnostics and mitigation activities related to sensitive data handling.
  • Provide engineering expertise to enhance operational resilience and reduce data loss risks.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in data protection coverage and recommend improvements to strengthen the agency’s security posture.
