About The Position

As an intern on Cardinal high-energy data team you will get experience in serving as a bridge between complex data sets and strategic business decisions. Our team is currently evolving from descriptive reporting to advanced diagnostic and prescriptive analytics. In this role, you won't just manage data, you will help define what success looks like by establishing benchmarks, identifying performance gaps, and advising stakeholders on how to optimize their operations. This is an ideal role for an analytical thinker who enjoys problem-solving, storytelling, and helping others adopt new technologies.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Foundational knowledge of SQL for data extraction and manipulation
  • Experience building visualizations in BI tools (e.g., Domo, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker).
  • Ability to look at a dataset and identify trends, outliers, and opportunities for improvement without being prompted
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a knack for explaining technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • A proactive approach to work - you look for ways to add value and improve existing processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Python or R for statistical analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform deep-dive analyses to move beyond what happened to why it happened. You will help establish internal and industry benchmarks to determine what constitutes strong real estate performance
  • Synthesize complex data into actionable recommendations. You will help stakeholders understand their current standing and the specific steps needed to reach their target objectives.
  • Support the migration of manual, offline reporting into automated, real-time dashboards within our BI platform. Ensure that these tools are intuitive and drive immediate action.
  • Conduct audits of existing data sets to identify opportunities for improved documentation, standardized naming conventions, and data integrity enhancements.
  • Brainstorm and build creative support resources - including how-to guides, video walkthroughs, and FAQs - to help non-technical users navigate our data tools and become more self-sufficient.
  • Assist in the development of proof of concept models to test new analytical ideas or evaluate the potential impact of new data sources.
