About The Position

Data Integration Architect (Software Engineer /Developer III) reports to the Director of Enterprise Information Systems. The position has a pivotal role in the integration of enterprise systems, including Peoplesoft Campus Solutions, Workday, BP Logix, Transact, Stellic, and others. The developer collaborates closely with functional stakeholders, vendors, and Learning and Information Technologies (LIT) teams to build and maintain, secure, efficient, and scalable enterprise solutions.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with enterprise data integration in a higher education setting, including data modeling cloud platform integration, and data transformation/ETL.
  • Demonstrated expertise in database management (Oracle, Postgres/Redshift, MS-SQL).
  • Experience with integration platforms, such as Informatica, Peoplesoft Integration Broker, and technologies including APIs, web services and webhooks.
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages used in data integration such as python and java.
  • Demonstrated complex problem-solving and analytical skills
  • A strong knowledge of higher education business processes and administrative functions
  • Experience planning and managing enterprise projects, including business process mapping, the use of project management tools, and creating documentation for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly across multiple functional areas, both technical and non-technical.
  • A fundamental knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and its use in the design, function, and development related to system integration.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Integration Broker, and Application Designer.
  • Experience with AWS data management including Lambda, Athena, Glue, and Redshift
  • Strong experience in data governance, including the use of the Collibra Platform

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive data integration across various enterprise systems, as well as operations, academic, research, and auxiliary/third-party systems utilized throughout the University.
  • Ensures efficient, accurate and secure data exchange between SIS, CRM, Finance, HR, LMS, data warehouses, and other UW-System, campus and third-party vendors.
  • Implements and supports data cleaning, validation techniques, creating test plans, and audits to maintain high-quality, accurate data.
  • Writes complex queries, procedures, and scripts to support data retrieval, transformation, and processing needs.
  • Ensures data systems adhere to privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA) and institutional policies.
  • Provides project and change management related to the enterprise system integration.
  • Conduct systems analysis, interface with stakeholders, create business process maps, interpret system requirements and create project plans and communication strategies.
  • Create and maintain detailed system design specifications and documentation.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data integration, data base systems, and cloud services.
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate new features, tools, or methodologies that can elevate the user experience or streamline development workflows.
  • Attend relevant conferences, webinars , or training sessions to build expertise and contribute innovative ideas to the team.
  • Close work with Enterprise information System team members, data stewards and custodians, functional service owners, UW-System and third-party vendor technical staff, and serve as an escalation point of contact for complex integration related service requests.
  • Trains and provides technical guidance to lower level staff
  • Reviews application design specifications, codes new applications, and makes enhancements to existing applications
  • Contributes to the development of data structure and systems performance strategies
  • Leads sub-functional team for application development or enhancement
  • Conducts analysis for the evaluation and selection of vendor software solutions and packages
  • Reviews application modules for quality assurance and checks compliance with application architecture standards
  • Conducts systems analysis, reviews and interprets system requirements, and develops detailed system design specifications for system integration and upgrades
  • Develops, prepares, or modifies technical specifications for complex projects, system integrations, and upgrades
  • Prepares program documentation and training requirements
  • Designs and implements test plans, and prepares systems test data
