About The Position

The Data Innovation Intern will support the development of low-code/no-code applications and data intake solutions that enhance enterprise data workflows. This role will focus on building scalable tools using Microsoft technologies (e.g., SharePoint, Power Apps, Azure, and Microsoft Fabric) to streamline data collection, integration, and reporting processes across the organization.. This is a non-exempt, temporary position for the summer intern season (May-Aug 2026). The hourly rate is $15.00 per hour. The intern position will report to the Executive Director of the Star Team. This position is based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located overlooking the Severn River on the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2023, the staff of the Alumni Association and Foundation moved into new modern offices in the Alumni Center, which are on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis. Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft ecosystem tools (Power Apps, SharePoint, Power Automate preferred)
  • Working knowledge of programming/scripting (e.g., SQL, Python, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage deliverables within limited weekly hours

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure or Fabric
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, or data governance concepts
  • Familiarity with UI/UX principles for form and app design
  • Familiarity building Microsoft AI agents

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop data intake forms and applications using SharePoint and Power Apps
  • Support integration of collected data into Microsoft Fabric and Azure environments
  • Assist in building automated workflows using Power Automate
  • Contribute to data cleanup and data quality initiatives, including validation and standardization efforts
  • Collaborate with STAR team members to identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency gains
  • Document solutions and provide basic user guidance for developed tools
