About this role: We are unable to provide any type of visa sponsorship either now or in the future for this role. The Data Governance Analyst III is responsible for enabling, operationalizing, and maturing GM Financial’s enterprise Data Governance capabilities. This role drives cross-functional alignment, promotes a strong data culture, and ensures effective governance practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience required
  • 4-6 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related disciplines.
  • 3–5 years of experience leading programs, governance forums, or enterprise initiatives.
  • Experience in large enterprises, ideally within financial services or other regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data management principles, and data quality best practices.
  • Hands on familiarity with metadata management, data lineage, business glossaries, and governance tools.
  • Exposure to modern cloud data platforms such as Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks.
  • Skilled in program and stakeholder management with the ability to lead cross functional decision making.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills—especially for policies and standards.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale the enterprise Data Stewardship model, including onboarding, training, and supporting business stewards.
  • Lead Data Governance councils, working groups, and Communities of Practice to drive consistent governance adoption.
  • Design and deliver data literacy programs that strengthen understanding of data quality, governance, and responsible usage.
  • Maintain and operationalize data policies, standards, and guidelines; coordinate updates and ensure enterprise compliance.
  • Improve user experience across DG tools (catalog, glossary, lineage, DQ dashboards) through feedback loops and collaboration with Product Owners.
  • Partner with business and risk teams to resolve data quality, ownership, and lifecycle issues.
  • Define, measure, and report Data Governance KPIs, creating executive dashboards that highlight program impact.
  • Promote a culture of data accountability, transparency, and high quality decision making across the organization.
