About The Position

The Research and Technology (R&T) Department at Albany Engineered Composites is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills to perform data analysis. This role will involve creating, processing, and analyzing data for projects related to predicting mechanical properties or inspecting parts designed and fabricated in our R&T facility.

Requirements

  • Completed at least three years toward a BS in an engineering related major with a GPA of 3.0 (3.5 preferred). Applicants working towards a degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, or Physics will be considered.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft software (MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel) for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Python programming for data analysis and scripting.
  • Team and people skills that are required to ensure efficient execution of tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to present technical information clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FEA tools, particularly Abaqus, is preferred.
  • Experience with machine learning or generative artificial intelligence.
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD software a plus (SolidWorks, AutoCad, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze key process data with the goal of providing recommendations to the engineering team for future improvements
  • Data Analysis: Assisting in the collection and analysis of data for building a database of properties in support of other projects
  • Testing and Experimentation: Participating in process testing or experiments to evaluate new materials, techniques, or equipment.
  • Problem-Solving: Assisting in troubleshooting production issues and developing solutions under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Attendance is mandatory to ensure effective team collaboration and productivity.
