About The Position

At Yes Energy, we help our clients win the day ahead through Better Data, Better Delivery, and Better Direction. The Data Quality team ensures the data powering our products is accurate, complete, timely, and trusted across complex North American power market datasets. As a Data Engineer II, you will design, build, and enhance data quality and observability frameworks across Oracle and Snowflake, enabling proactive monitoring and measurable improvements in data reliability at scale. You’ll investigate complex data issues, implement durable fixes, and collaborate across Engineering, Collections, and Support to ensure our data remains dependable for critical market operations. This role is ideal for a technically strong, detail-oriented engineer who enjoys working with complex data, building robust systems, and preventing issues before they impact customers.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Strong experience working with Oracle Database and Snowflake
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred)
  • Experience building or maintaining production data systems
  • Demonstrated ability to design and build frameworks or reusable systems, not just individual fixes
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with complex, high-volume datasets

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data quality or data observability frameworks
  • Familiarity with data governance or quality scoring approaches
  • Practical experience using AI or ML-assisted techniques for data analysis, monitoring, or automation
  • Experience with time-series, market, or energy data
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and continuously refine scalable data quality and observability frameworks across Oracle and Snowflake
  • Implement data quality scoring, trend analysis, and anomaly detection to proactively identify issues in critical datasets
  • Develop and maintain impact-driven monitors and alerts that focus on business-critical data and reduce noise
  • Analyze complex market data issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive durable fixes that improve data reliability
  • Evaluate and adopt new technologies, tools, and industry-standard approaches for data quality and observability, and design solutions that integrate effectively with Yes Energy’s technology stack
  • Apply practical, AI-assisted techniques where appropriate to improve detection, analysis, automation, or issue triage
  • Collaborate closely with Collection, Engineering, and Support teams to resolve data quality issues and improve downstream data trust
  • Participate in on-call and support rotations, contributing to operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Support clients by answering complex data questions, providing timely and effective solutions, so that we can empower our clients to make informed decisions
