About The Position

The On-Site Data Engineer in Malvern, PA works with our IT and Software Development teams, playing a key role in administering, maintaining, optimizing, analyzing, and architecting both Cenero developed and Cenero supported applications and systems. This position is multifaceted requiring a dynamic blend of database administration, data engineering, data analytics, and data science to ensure our data remains reliable, secure, and optimized for various business applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or related fields.
  • Strong expertise in SQL, SSIS, PowerShell, Python, and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in SQL Server and MySQL database administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Azure Synapse, Azure Stream, DBT, Apache Airflow, Apache Talend, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services. Azure preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, Zoho). Power BI and DAX preferred.
  • Familiar with Database analysis tools such as SolarWinds.
  • Proficiency with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Some experience with code versioning tools such as Git preferred.
  • Some experience with machine learning workflows and MLOps concepts preferred.
  • Certifications in AWS, Azure, CompTIA or GCP preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, solve problems and analyze code of varying software languages.
  • Highly detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to document and diagram solutions visually.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members at varying levels of understanding.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral), with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to significantly contribute toward or lead operation initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking to ensure success of objectives, whether project, process, or personnel related.
  • Ability to work and think independently and compile quantitative data for review.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other related software.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, process, and store data efficiently.
  • Develop and optimize data warehouses, data lakes, and databases for structured and unstructured data.
  • Implement best practices for data modeling, storage, indexing, and retrieval.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate data solutions into applications, APIs and services.
  • Automate data workflows, monitoring, and alerting to ensure data integrity and performance.
  • Manage and optimize SQL and NoSQL databases to support business operations and analytics.
  • Ensure data security, compliance, and access control for all data assets.
  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries for speed and efficiency.
  • Work closely with analysts and stakeholders to define data requirements and ensure accessibility.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI semantic models and reports.
  • Support predictive analytics and machine learning workflows by ensuring clean, well-structured data.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Define and maintain data governance policies to ensure data consistency and quality.
  • Contribute to the development of a modern data stack, evaluating new tools and technologies.
  • Design, document, diagram and implement scalable, high-performance data architectures that align with business needs.
  • Administer database connection strings & database administrative access.
  • Adaptability to switch between various tools based on business needs, such as transitioning from SQL to MongoDB or utilizing new tools in Azure or GCP.
