About The Position

The Border Security Data Engineer will join a dynamic team supporting U.S Federal border security customers. In this role, the candidate will collect, transform, integrate, and analyze data to. develop integrated data models, generate reports and analyses for key senior leaders and deploy dynamic analytical solutions. Develop integrated data pipelines and models to measure program performance and report on progress Develop and maintain data governance documentation, tools, and templates. Coordinate with non-technical users to gather requirements. Develop intuitive, attractive, and interactive data visualizations using large data sets to create dashboards, using tools such as Tableau and Power BI, for a diverse set of users with varying technical capabilities. Request, document, report, and analyze data, and where applicable, create tools and resources to support data and reporting. Support key mission clients within the Washington DC Metro region at client sites

Requirements

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED CBP PUBLIC TRUST.
  • Bachelor's degree obtained
  • Three (3+) years of experience in data engineering, data visualization, data integration and/or database management
  • Demonstrated ability to perform data quality management and integration to ensure accurate and usable datasets using querying or data engineering software tools, such as SQL, Python, R, etc.
  • Experience developing transformative data integration solutions that transform law enforcement work, workforces, and workplaces through innovation, assets and analytics for success through evolution
  • Experience using business intelligence tools Tableau and/or Power BI to visualize large data sets.
  • Experience developing and implementing a resiliency strategy, including data visualization tailored for law enforcement.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in querying and joining acquisition, programming and transactional datasets
  • Experience delivering transformation efforts at DHS
  • Proficiency in data wrangling and analysis using Python.
  • Proficiency developing dashboards using Tableau or Power BI.
  • Direct Experience supporting CBP Acquisition or Technology programs within the Office of Field Operations or the United States Border Patrol
