About The Position

We’re looking for a safety-focused professional driver with hands-on data collection experience to support autonomous vehicle (AV) testing in real-world environments. You’ll operate test vehicles on fixed routes and open roads, capture high-quality sensor and operational data, and provide actionable feedback to engineering teams to help improve AV performance.

Requirements

  • Professional driving experience (e.g., commercial delivery, rideshare, courier, shuttle/bus, service/field ops); strong safety record.
  • Data collection experience in a field, research, QA, or survey environment (ideally with sensors, logging tools, or structured checklists).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record that meets company insurance standards.
  • Comfortable with computers/tablets and productivity tools; able to learn internal data/logging software quickly.
  • Excellent situational awareness, judgment, and communication; able to follow SOPs precisely and document details accurately.
  • Willingness to work variable shifts (early mornings, nights, weekends/holidays) and in varied weather/traffic conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with vehicle-based sensing (cameras, LiDAR, radar), GNSS/INS, or fleet telematics tools.
  • Familiarity with basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting in a field setting.
  • Prior AV, ADAS, mapping, or mobility operations experience.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or experience with multiple vehicle classes (sedans, SUVs, vans).
  • Incident reporting, defect tracking, or test case execution background (e.g., JIRA, QA checklists).
  • First Aid/CPR certification and/or defensive driving certification.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate AV test vehicles in manual and supervised autonomous modes on public roads, test tracks, and defined routes.
  • Rigorously follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), local traffic laws, and safety protocols; execute pre/post-trip inspections.
  • Monitor autonomy system behavior, document events (e.g., disengagements, anomalies), and escalate issues quickly and clearly.
  • Execute data collection runs: start/stop logging, verify data integrity, complete checklists, and tag/annotate key scenarios.
  • Offload, organize, and verify sensor and telemetry data (e.g., camera, LiDAR, radar, GPS/INS) using company tools.
  • Perform basic hardware checks and light troubleshooting (cables, mounts, sensors, compute units) and coordinate maintenance.
  • Provide clear, structured feedback to engineering and operations teams to improve routes, tools, and system performance.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness; track supplies, equipment, and documentation.
  • Support special projects (e.g., route validation, calibration procedures, environmental condition testing) as needed.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental & vision
  • Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan – Pre-tax and Roth post-tax contributions available
  • Life Insurance (Voluntary Life & AD&D for the employee and dependents)
