About The Position

Reporting directly to the Manager of Data Collection, the Data Collection Coordinator assists in providing direction and continuity to the data collection unit in the collection and processing of data to ensure fair and equitable assessments of all properties by the Cook County Assessor's Office (CCAO). The Data Collection Coordinator provides good customer service and assistance to data collection unit. The Data Collection Coordinator assists the Manager of Data Collection in coordinating the work of field inspectors, helping to maintain an efficient balance of work between permits, appeals, special projects, and other issues in order to meet the data collection unit's deadlines. Receives permits, divisions, appeals, and omitted assessments for all properties, and assists in maintaining accurate records of the work to be assigned to each field inspector. Generates daily reports for deadlines and town closures within the data collection unit to ensure the group is meeting assessment deadlines. Assisting the Director of Data Integrity and the Manager of Data Collection in uploading permits from townships and municipalities that have been submitted in digital form, creating workflows, and eliminating duplicates. Responsible for reviewing all Model Home applications and making a determination of whether to assign to a field inspector. Responsible for reviewing assessment inquiries and creating workflows as needed to prepare for a field check. Responsible for reviewing and updating property location forms received by CCAO. Works on special projects and performs other duties and assignments, as assigned, to achieve the overall goals of the Valuations department. Helps to ensure that activities and results are consistent with CCAO's mission, goals, and objectives. The duties listed are not set forth for purposes of limiting the assignment of work. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate or higher.
  • Two (2) years of full-time work experience in an administrative support capacity
  • Two (2) years of full-time work experience in property taxation, assessments, real estate valuation, or related field.
  • Knowledge of CCAO's operations, function, activities, and the property tax system.
  • Knowledge of CCAO's procedures, policies, guidelines and other applicable rules and regulations related to valuation of real property, or the ability to quickly gain such knowledge.
  • Ability to coordinate work activities and follow instructions.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet CCAO and departmental deadlines, production goals and effectively utilize time with limited oversight.
  • Ability to work with others by utilizing excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with the general public, taxpayers, and co-workers.
  • Ability to provide guidance and information regarding CCAO's policies and procedures.
  • Must be computer literate, with skill and efficiency in entering and retrieving data.
  • Visual acuity to review and edit written and electronic communications for long periods of time.
  • Repetitive use of hands to handle and/or operate standard office equipment.
  • Traveling between offices and buildings may be required.
  • Regular use of a telephone to communicate.
  • May require lifting and moving boxes weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Four (4) years of full-time work experience in an administrative support capacity.
  • Four (4) years of full-time work experience in property taxation, assessments, real estate valuation, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
