About The Position

The role focuses on understanding how these subsystems interact, identifying technical requirements and challenges within each area, and translating those insights into potential business and technology opportunities. The intern will collaborate closely with product management and sales teams to help map technical needs to Indium’s capabilities, while also developing a strong foundational understanding of the data center ecosystem and its key industry players.

Requirements

  • All interns must be active college students who have completed their freshman year and are enrolled in courses for the Fall semester of 2026.
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, materials, or a related discipline preferred) or business with a strong interest in technical sales, market research, product marketing, or business development, along with curiosity about technology
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team-based environments
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to distill complex technical information into clear, actionable insights
  • Comfortable creating summaries, diagrams, and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity withtechnical illustration or data visualization tools is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Research and document the full range of subsystems that comprise a data center, such as power delivery, cooling, compute, storage, networking, and supporting infrastructure
  • Develop clear, illustrative “tear-downs” of each subsystem, with particular focus on electronic components, materials, and interconnect technologies
  • Analyze the functional and technical requirements of each subsystem and identify key challenges, trends, and emerging technology needs
  • Collaborate with product management and sales teams to align identified technical needs with potential Indium products, solutions, or areas of opportunity
  • Identify and catalog major companies, suppliers, and OEMs participating in each subsystem of the data center ecosystem
  • Research and summarize relevant industry trade shows, technical conferences, and consortia associated with each subsystem as potential engagement or business development opportunities
  • Synthesize research findings into concise written summaries, visual diagrams, and presentations suitable for internal stakeholders
