About The Position

BGIS is looking for a Sites Supervisor (Data Center) to join the team, Las Vegas, NV . The Data Center Supervisor is responsible for the physical and virtual infrastructure of the organization and assigned data center raised floor environments. The position drives data center best practices and relative industry standards into working processes and procedures. The role functions as a manager and an individual contributor. The Data Center Supervisor leads others positively exemplifying BGIS values.

Requirements

  • College degree or Technical Certification in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of data center management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Teamwork building and people skills.
  • Strong managerial acumen and leadership skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Data Center Infrastructure Management tools.
  • Working knowledge of copper and fiber infrastructure installation and testing.
  • Highly proficient with Word, Excel, PPT, and Visio.
  • Hands on expertise working with IT Infrastructure (Racks, Power Strips, Servers, and Network Hardware).
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and UNIX (AIX, LINUX, Solaris), SSH, RDP, and Putty is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Mainframe (zOS/MVS/JES, Tape Subsystems) is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of data center building infrastructure (CRACS, GENS, PDUs, UPS).
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical concepts (Power Distribution, Redundancy, Wiring
  • BS, BA or BEng in a technical field or 5-7 years’ experience in a site supervisor or lead role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 5+ years of experience managing multiple projects within the same time schedule.
  • Knowledge of enterprise level infrastructure.
  • Experience training, mentoring, and leading other engineers and technicians.
  • Experience developing quality frameworks for service programs.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and tracking support metrics and implementing programs to improve operational performance.
  • Strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite

Responsibilities

  • People Leadership Guide team members in reaching their full potential and meeting their objectives support achievement of corporate goals.
  • Manage staffing levels partnering with recruiting team for sourcing candidates, interviewing, selecting and hiring the appropriate number of team members for data center support.
  • Facilitate new team member onboarding, enforce data center training program, provide career development planning and conduct goal setting and performance reviews.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and guidance to all team members.
  • Recommend compensation adjustments based on objective measurements.
  • Monitor performance of team members to ensure productivity and quality consistently meet company and client standards.
  • Direct team members in the data center following company and client policies, procedures, and facilities documentation.
  • Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.
  • Account Management Manage client relationship and identify new business opportunities.
  • Assist and plan with clients on raised floor data center issues.
  • Provide financial oversight by creating budgets, approving expenditures, monitoring, and negotiating vendor contracts.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analysis, and prepare reports on all aspects of the raised floor operations programs.
  • Coordinate with specific groups within the company and also with the client including sales, finance, executive staff, project, facilities, and others to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Direct team members to adhere to the scope of work and meet contractual requirements including managing hours for overtime in accordance with the contract.
  • Manage shift schedules, work activities, team and individual meetings ensuring site operational readiness.
  • Partner with client and facilities teams to plan for and provide appropriate data center IT equipment space, power, and cooling requirements and requests
  • Data Center Operations Plan, maintain, update, and report on data center raised floor plans using Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Tool.
  • Manage team members to provide Data Center Mainframe physical cabling connectivity planning and implementation support.
  • Process Customer Data Center Requests including cages, power whips, and structured cabling.
  • Provide Data Center Equipment Design and Build Out Services (Electric, Rack & Stack, Structured Cabling).
  • Monitor the provisioning of weekly/monthly KPI reports and status reporting regarding data center service availability, performance, capacity utilization and other metrics as required.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures, support processes and training materials are in place for service delivery.
  • Maintain site security protocols, badging requirements, and data protection procedures.
  • Support standard and emergency operating procedures for data center.
  • Audit documentation provided by team members for detailed and thorough record keeping.
  • Track completion of QA Checklists and close out the Data Center Installation/De-installations requests.
  • Perform IT hardware troubleshooting and restoration of services under systems administration direction.
  • Support and complete all scheduled data center MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes) including installation, labeling, power/network connectivity and cabling.
  • Deliver IT hardware server projects.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and secure operating environment within the data center.
  • Deliver service for Rack & Stack, cable and troubleshoot various types of rack mounted hardware.
  • Provide Data Center Hardware Asset Management and Auditing services.
  • Direct team members to provide Tape Operations Support.
  • Oversite of daily error log reporting and physical DC inspections for general health, power, cooling, hazards, etc.
  • Monitor data center environmental health and safety.
  • Responsible for all remote hands support during any change request to include but not limited to component troubleshooting and replacement, component installation, configuration management on gear, and remediation on any heating, cooling, or power alarms
  • Assign and manage the team supporting supply audits to ensure the dual power supplies are available in each rack
  • Manage the team responsible for supporting rack onboarding to include pre-cabling, network builds, containment, and power strip management
  • Lead the team responsible for refreshing and decommissioning equipment within the managed data center
  • Provide schedule and staging for hardware replacement
  • Support ITAD vendors as needed
  • Schedule and lead the decommissioning and removal process for end of life assets
  • Exceed all environmental organization and cleanliness requirements
  • Manage and staff all team members needed to support a 24/7 operation in your specific datacenter
  • Assign all On-Call rotations and follow up with written incident report upon on call support
  • Responsible for all employee management to include retention, disciplinary action, employment reviews, and new hire orientation as needed
  • Manage all compliance SOPs and training as required by the organization and maintain updated documents
