Data Center Operator - Part Time - Weekends - 11:30 pm - 7:30 am
About The Position
Racksquared, a division of Wasserstrom, is a data center hosting leader, providing hosting, cloud, storage and disaster recovery solutions. We currently have an opening for a Part Time Weekend Shift Data Center Operator located in our Data Center in Downtown Columbus, OH. The Data Center Operator will be part of a 24/7 team supporting the data center operations and will be responsible for monitoring and validating system alerts, following standard operating procedures and check lists. This is an entry-level position and would be a good learning experience for anyone pursuing an education or career in Information Technology.
Requirements
- Applicants must be proficient with MS Office Applications and have experience with a Service Desk or Trouble-Ticketing Software.
- Must demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and have excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
- Must also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a team player.
Responsibilities
- Monitors production websites and related systems.
- Monitors production servers such as IBM I-Series, AIX, Windows and Linux.
- Monitors for alerts and responds by following company standard operating procedures.
- Maintains company tape library and changes tapes as necessary.
- Monitors backups for completion.
- Completes hourly checklists.
- Monitors data center security systems.
- Creates help desk tickets for customers and escalates issues as needed.
- Check in of data center customers third party service companies following standard operating procedures.
