We're looking for a talented Data Center Operations Manager to join our team in Columbia, SC . This position will support a complex government client and will require day-to-day management, reliability, and security of data center operations. This role ensures continuous availability of systems and infrastructure, oversees facilities and technical teams, manages vendors, and enforces compliance with operational, security, and safety standards.. Work Location: Onsite – Work from office location in Columbia, SC Clearance: Must be US citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust / Secret / Top-Secret security clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in data center operations or infrastructure management
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, and hardware
  • Experience with incident management, change control, and operational best practices
  • Knowledge of physical security systems and access controls
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing large-scale or colocation data centers
  • Familiarity with cloud-hybrid environments
  • Certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, ITIL, PMP, or relevant vendor certifications
  • Experience supporting compliance frameworks and audits
  • Budgeting and cost management experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily data center operations, including power, cooling, physical security, and space management
  • Ensure high availability and uptime of servers, storage, network, and supporting infrastructure
  • Manage incident response, escalation procedures, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain operational policies, procedures, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans
  • Lead, mentor, and manage data center technicians and operations staff
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, change management, and capacity planning
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, SLAs, and third-party service providers
  • Monitor environmental systems (UPS, generators, HVAC, fire suppression) and conduct regular testing
  • Enforce physical security controls, access management, and compliance requirements
  • Track KPIs, performance metrics, and operational risks; provide regular reporting to leadership
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, HIPAA as applicable)
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews
  • Maintain inventory, asset lifecycle management, and documentation
