In this role, you will lead the team responsible for the physical infrastructure powering Google’s search technology. Working an overnight shift (6pm–6am), you will manage Data Center Technicians who install, configure, and maintain the servers and networking hardware essential to our global operations. You will oversee routine maintenance and troubleshooting of Linux-based clusters and network components, ensuring all equipment remains reliable and secure throughout the night. Beyond technical oversight, you will be focused on hiring, coaching, and developing talent within a 24/7 environment. You will translate company objectives into daily workflows, manage capacity delivery, and ensure seamless shift hand-offs. You will advocate a safety culture while fostering a collaborative environment, ensuring the backbone of our digital services is managed with precision during these critical hours. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware.
  • 5 years of experience managing technical, vendor, contract management, or delivery teams.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data gathering, analysis, and presentation skills.
  • Experience installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining server and networking hardware and their components.
  • Experience working in data center environments, including building and operating infrastructure, network and compute architecture and lifecycle, and Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Experience with initiating and executing initiatives in a global environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team by hiring, coaching, and setting clear priorities that align individual performance with organizational goals.
  • Oversee day-to-day data center operations and workflows, ensuring all activities meet defined service level objectives and security protocols.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of capacity delivery and maintenance projects, including the repair and preventative maintenance of critical server and network infrastructure.
  • Partner with stakeholders to implement short- and long-term facility strategies while leveraging operational trends to identify and execute process improvements.
  • Drive a site safety culture by leading Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives and fostering an a collaborative work environment.
