In this role, you will lead a team in Data Center operations, ensuring all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) regarding availability, efficiency, and cost are met for internal teams. You will scale the campus team to meet evolving business needs by adeptly utilizing technical talent and defining key hiring requirements for regional data centers. You will be expected to devise creative approaches to reduce operational costs while simultaneously boosting overall efficiency. Additionally, you will enforce environmental and safety standards and, during emergencies, manage outages and performance issues to minimize recovery time. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in data center operations or other relevant operational experience in non-DC industries (e.g., power generation, HVAC and refrigeration, industrial manufacturing, military, oil and gas, maritime/marine, chemical cluster, etc.).
  • 5 years of experience managing technical teams and vendors in charge of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and controls infrastructure and components.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in collaborating with other business units to meet company goals and standards.
  • Experience in mission critical systems operations (e.g., power generation, data center, refinery, chip fabrication, chemical processing, or other high consequence environments).
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment (e.g., Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, Automatic Transfer Switch/Storage Transfer Service (ATS/STS) units, Power Distribution Unit/Power Management Module (PDU/PMM units), Chillers, Air handling units and CRAC units).
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute campus operational budgets, expense forecasting, and manage established budgets.
  • Set strategy and plan deployments across multiple sites.
  • Lead efforts to integrate Google-wide strategy and execution with internal and external business partners.
  • Create strategy for cost effective operations, focused on total cost of ownership.
  • Demonstrate thinking and innovation in approaching traditional data centers and emergent tests.
