Another Source's client, Sabey Data Center s is recruiting a Data Center Operations Engineer 2 to join their team in Ashburn, VA. This role works a standard Monday–Friday day schedule supporting facility operations, with participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support incident response when needed. Operations teams at this campus play a critical role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency that Sabey customers depend on every day. About This Role The Data Center Operations Engineer 2 plays a hands-on role in maintaining and optimizing mission-critical infrastructure within Sabey’s data center environments. This role supports the day-to-day operations of mechanical, electrical, and environmental systems that keep customer equipment operating reliably. Working closely with the operations team, you will monitor facility performance, perform preventive maintenance, respond to system alerts, and help ensure the highest levels of uptime and operational excellence across the campus.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or coursework related to data center operations are a plus
  • Experience working with mechanical, electrical, or controls systems in a critical facilities environment
  • Experience maintaining infrastructure in mission-critical facilities such as data centers, industrial plants, or similar environments preferred
  • Ability to quickly learn complex facility systems using technical documentation and operations manuals
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and operational records
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations teams and external partners
  • Comfort working in environments that require both preventive maintenance and rapid incident response
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high operational standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and related platforms
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the day-to-day operations of mission-critical infrastructure including power distribution, HVAC systems, and environmental controls
  • Monitoring facility systems to ensure optimal environmental conditions for server operations
  • Responding to alarms and system alerts, investigating root causes, and implementing corrective actions
  • Performing routine and preventive maintenance on data center infrastructure and equipment
  • Diagnosing abnormal system conditions and documenting incidents and resolutions
  • Maintaining awareness of equipment health and operational status through monitoring platforms and dashboards
  • Assisting with inventory tracking of hardware assets, including equipment specifications, serial numbers, and physical locations
  • Supporting procurement and tracking of replacement parts and equipment when necessary
  • Maintaining documentation related to equipment configurations, infrastructure layouts, and cable connections
  • Coordinating with external vendors and contractors during equipment installations, upgrades, and maintenance work
  • Supporting disaster recovery and business continuity readiness within the facility
  • Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support incident response and operational continuity
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and reliability
  • Staying current on emerging technologies and operational best practices within the data center industry
  • Leveraging modern tools, including automation and AI platforms, to streamline operational tasks and documentation
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, cooling, and mechanical systems
  • Monitor facility conditions and respond to critical alarms and infrastructure events
  • Troubleshoot and support electrical and mechanical systems that power mission-critical environments
  • Partner with vendors and internal teams to support infrastructure upgrades and operational reliability
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and safety initiatives across the campus
