Job Summary The Data Center Cable Technician is responsible for installing and troubleshooting structured cabling (fiber), focusing on rack/stack, cable management and labeling. All while ensuring timelines are met and adhering to strict safety/security protocols to support critical data center operations.

Requirements

  • Must have 3 to 5 years of experience in the installation of cabling associated with: Telecom Systems, TCP/IP Networks, CCTV Security, Access control & Wireless Solutions.
  • Must have the ability to install, terminate & test low voltage cables & fiber optical cables.
  • Strong understanding of low voltage infrastructure and related services.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Finger & wrist dexterity & hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to see in color.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point
  • Comprehensive understanding of contract scope and requirements for pro-active management of projects and integration into processes
  • Must be able to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to understand basic wiring diagrams and installation instructions.
  • Run, terminate, label, and manage fiber optic cables; troubleshoot low-voltage connectivity issues.
  • Possess working knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards & the National Electric Code.
  • Attend project planning & progress meetings.
  • Report any project scope changes, issues, or concerns to the assigned contacts.
  • Use proper care on all company assets to avoid breakage, misuse, theft, etc.
  • Ability to complete the tasks assigned in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to data center security protocols, safety procedures, and industry best practices (e.g., cable management standards).
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
