About The Position

Empyrean Benefit Solutions is seeking a Data Analytics Intern to support our data and analytics team in delivering insights that enhance our benefit administration software and services. This role will assist in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to drive business decisions and improve client experiences. The intern will work with large datasets, create reports, and identify trends to optimize operational efficiency and strategic planning. This hands-on opportunity offers exposure to benefit administration data, business intelligence tools, and data-driven decision-making within the HR technology industry.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • SQL experience (preferred).
  • Familiarity with statistical concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Interest in benefits administration, HR technology, and employee benefits data.
  • To qualify for this internship, applicants must be full-time students at an accredited college or university and currently classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior.
  • Accepting recent graduates (May 2025 or later).
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Coursework or experience with data manipulation and visualization tools.
  • Understanding of database management and querying languages (e.g., SQL).

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and analyze benefits administration and employee benefits data.
  • Develop reports and dashboards using tools such as Excel and SQL.
  • Support data validation and quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and predictive modeling to enhance business insights.
  • Assist in the development of automation processes for data reporting and analytics.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including product development, client services, and operations, to translate data into actionable business recommendations.
  • Research trends in benefits administration, healthcare analytics, and HR technology to support strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to process improvement projects and documentation efforts.
  • Support ad hoc data analysis requests from business stakeholders.
