About The Position

We are seeking an acoustics data analyst. The analyst will be supervised by Dr. Jennifer Miksis-Olds (Center for Acoustics Research and Education within the Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space) at the University of New Hampshire. The University of New Hampshire is an R1 Carnegie classification research institution providing comprehensive, high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs of distinction. UNH is located in Durham on a 188-acre campus, 60 miles north of Boston and 8 miles from the Atlantic coast and is convenient to New Hampshire’s lakes and mountains. There is a student enrollment of 13,000 students, with a full-time faculty of over 600, offering 90 undergraduate and more than 70 graduate programs. Responsibilities

  • Support the processing of passive acoustic recordings and echosounder data from the Gulf of Maine
  • Engage with collaborators and students to support ongoing lab programs and projects
  • Characterize broad metrics of marine soundscapes
  • Participate in manual analysis of marine mammal and fish sounds from passive recordings
  • Be involved with the processing of acoustic backscatter from echograms of fish and zooplankton
