The Analytics group works to research, develop, and apply innovative and practical decision support tools, including transportation models. The group encompasses three subgroups: Modeling; Digital Transformation; and Operations Modeling. Our practice is built on a foundation of expert skills, quality assurance, customer service, and effective teamwork. We successfully leverage a variety of planning, engineering, market research, statistical analysis, visualization, and software development and application techniques to provide insights into existing conditions and problems, forecast alternative outcomes, and explain complex traveler behavior mechanisms. We are looking for a Data Analyst who is adept at using state-of-the-art data programming and data analytics platforms. This role will require developing an expertise in technical data evaluations and analyses, efficient algorithm design, and database management. The Data Analyst’s work will contribute to a new generation of data products in mobility analytics that address traffic congestion, safety analysis, and other areas. The Data Analyst will also provide technical support to a variety of projects ranging from travel demand model development and application (four-step and activity-based models), survey design and evaluation, modeling analyses and network development assignments. The Analyst will be required to spend part of their time working at client sites.

  • Perform data analysis tasks for aggregation and visualization
  • Develop dashboards summarizing a variety of data
  • Provide clear, concise documentation
  • Produce and deliver exceptional work that is thorough, polished, and reflects well on CS
  • Learn new tools and technologies as appropriate
  • Possess and develop the technical skills necessary to complete assignments effectively and efficiently
  • Identify opportunities to address client requirements through the development of innovative data analysis/data engineering solutions
  • Enhance, extract, transform and load (ETL) operations of roadway and traffic data
  • Prepare complex scripts or programs to automate functions within a desktop or web-based GIS environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Geography, Data Analytics, GIS, Applied Statistics, Data Science or related field
  • 0-3 years of applicable experience
  • Ability to conduct effective and rigorous data analyses
  • Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Geography, Data Analytics, GIS, Data Science or related field
  • Understanding of statistical principles, including regression analyses
  • Experience with cloud-based data analytics platforms, such as Google BigQuery, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure/Databricks
  • Experience with data visualization software such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • Experience with scripting tools such as Python, R, etc.
  • SQL Query writing/Database management
  • Understanding of the underpinnings of travel demand models and familiarity with travel demand modeling software such as TransCAD and/or Cube
  • ESRI ArcGIS desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL) experience
  • Oracle Spatial or SQL Server Spatial back-end data processing experience
