Data Analyst, Supply Chain
About The Position
Book of the Month is seeking a Data Analyst to contribute to the Supply Chain team’s ongoing initiatives, which will require keen attention to detail and precision. This role will primarily assist with Inventory Management and Forecasting, but you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to other parts of Supply Chain for a lean DTC, ecommerce company. Over time, you may support the execution, monitoring, quality assurance, and reporting of operational functions within Book of the Month. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, data-driven, and eager to solve complex problems and make an impact across a variety of operational disciplines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, supply chain, engineering, finance, or math strongly preferred.
- 1 - 3 years of professional experience in a Data or Analytics role requiring quantitative analysis and problem solving.
- Strong Technical Skills Proficiency in Excel and SQL required.
- Can read, interpret and analyze data well; demonstrated knowledge in data science, supply chain, finance, and or/logistics.
- Proactive and resourceful, thrives working in a fast-paced environment and highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written and a proven ability to work in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment.
- Interested in commercial fiction and/or ecommerce.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Snowflake and/or Redshift preferred.
- Experience with Python, R, or similar programming languages preferred.
- Experience building reports and dashboards in a BI tool is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally to forecast and anticipate inventory and demand planning requirements for membership, books, paper, non-book inventory, and new product launches.
- Update and monitor our daily demand forecast across multiple monthly cycles to optimize stock levels, reduce obsolescence, inform labor planning, and support service level goals.
- Use SQL, Python, or similar programming language to build automation and new tools that improve forecasting accuracy, member experience, and supply chain.
- Proactively monitor and oversee POs, inventory levels, forecast accuracy, inventory health, and other KPIs to avert stockout and replenish inventory as needed.
- Communicate cross-functionally to notify appropriate stakeholders of potential stockouts, preorder status, backorder status, and inbound inventory delays.
- Develop and maintain inventory strategies to optimize stock levels, reduce obsolescence, and support service level goals.
- Oversee inventory health, including cycle counts, reconciliations, and root cause analysis of variances.
- Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to leadership on inventory levels, forecast accuracy, backorder rate, inventory obsolescence, and other relevant KPIs.
- Lead the integrated planning process (S&OP) to align supply, demand, and operational capacity across functions.
