About The Position

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Data Analyst I, part of the Mission Data & Insights team, systematically processes large datasets, ensuring data accuracy through quality assurance and advanced analysis methods to produce actionable insights on program effectiveness. By collaborating with cross-functional teams and leveraging effective data storytelling, the Data Analyst I helps drive strategic decisions, enhance warrior well-being, and increase awareness of the post-9/11 veteran population.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of statistical methods and data analysis techniques.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to adapt to shifting priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work within time constraints.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS) and strong documentation skills, with excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills in data analytics and evaluation, while being open to feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Strong ethical standards regarding data confidentiality and integrity.
  • High energy level.

  • Two years of experience in data analysis, evaluation, or related fields.
  • Two years of experience in handling and analyzing large datasets in Excel, R, SAS, STATA, Python, or similar statistical tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, social sciences, data science, or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to obtain ASIST Certification within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of experience in a non-profit setting or working with military or veteran-focused organizations.
  • Two years of experience presenting data insights through meetings, print, and digital materials, including communicating results to executive leadership.
  • ASIST Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, testing, and implementation of data collection tools and methodologies.
  • Gather, clean, and validate structured and unstructured data from various sources, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Maintain and update databases and data systems, ensuring timely and accurate data availability.
  • Perform basic statistical analyses under the guidance of senior team members and assist in interpreting data to identify key trends and insights.
  • Generate reports, charts, and data visualizations to summarize findings and support decision-making.
  • Prepare and present preliminary analysis reports, documenting processes and methodologies used in data collection and analysis.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on data-related deliverables to ensure accuracy, validity, and consistency in reporting.
  • Ensure proper archiving and accessibility of data, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in developing and implementing evaluation plans, including participation in fieldwork activities such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
  • Support the preparation of evaluation reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to support data-driven initiatives and projects.
  • Provide project support to senior analysts and managers, contributing to discussions and team meetings with data-driven insights.
  • Attend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
