About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join our Orange County and San Diego County GROW (Growth, Respect, Opportunity, and Well-being) teams at Rady Children’s Health. This role focuses on analyzing data to advance our GROW values by identifying trends, strengths, gaps, and opportunities that foster inclusion, belonging, and health equity. Analysts should bring not only technical expertise but also approach data with an equity lens, have a passion for using data to drive meaningful impact in healthcare and community well-being, and be able to critically examine how data practices can perpetuate systemic inequities. Our end goal is to become a proactive analytics team that generates insights and solutions to improve clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, and workforce belonging.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and experience related to database design, structure and maintenance.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of electronic medical record technology.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills, within the framework of CHOC’s corporate values.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines across the hospital.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a complex changing environment.
  • Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of experience in the field of healthcare informatics and database management.
  • Master's degree in related field.

Responsibilities

  • Leveraging Databricks, clean, transform, and analyze data from various sources to support business decisions.
  • Design and implement data collection strategies that ensure data integrity and transparency in methodology.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and data modeling (using R and Python) and interpret results through an equity-focused framework that accounts for systemic influences and avoids conclusions that place responsibility for disparities on affected communities.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, self-serve tools, and other data products.
  • Engage key partners, including historically marginalized communities, in defining metrics and interpreting results.
  • Collaborate with cross-regional teams to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Present findings and recommendations to key partners through clear and concise reports and visualizations that communicate why inequities exist and how to address them.
  • Work with data engineers to develop sustainable data models.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with team members.
