PFM Group Consulting LLC [Management and Budget Consulting (MBC)] helps state and local governments across the nation tackle some of their toughest fiscal and operational challenges. Representative projects include: the development of long-range financial plans for economically challenged cities and school districts; financial analysis of criminal justice system reforms; evaluation of the effectiveness of tax incentives; quantitative and analytical support for public sector collective bargaining; and operational and performance analysis for government agencies. ANALYSTS: PFM’S FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS Our Analysts are a critical part of the project teams that serve our broad base of clients. Each role provides a solid foundation for a meaningful and growth-oriented career within the firm, and many of our project managers and Managing Directors started their careers with PFM. Day-to-day challenges: Operating budget analysis Workforce staffing and compensation analysis Revenue analysis and tax policy development Benchmarking and best practices research Quantitative modeling and analysis Working closely with elected and appointed officials, management, and department staff Communicating findings and recommendations to officials, their constituents, business or community groups and other stakeholders through written reports or public presentations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree conferred by May 15, 2026, with coursework in political science, economics, public policy and/or related areas of study
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability or interest in working with governments or nonprofits on financial, operational and policy challenges, as evidenced by prior professional experience, internships, or relevant academic coursework
  • Proven analytical abilities, including strong quantitative skills and an interest in quantitative analysis and modeling
  • Unwavering integrity and ethics, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Wholly supportive of the Firm’s policies and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)
  • Excellent writing ability and public presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to travel for client engagements as necessary
