About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The Data Abstractor RN is responsible for collecting information, analyzing and completing abstracts related to patients within specific quality measure populations. Conducts retrospective and applicable concurrent medical record reviews. Maintains internal and external databases, ensuring all appropriate data is entered in a timely manner. Maintains understanding of both measure requirements and clinical workflows to ensure accuracy and completeness of information. Identifies opportunities for both process and quality improvements and serves as a subject matter expert in organizational quality improvement initiatives. Provides clinical knowledge, expertise and guidance to non-RN abstractors.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of electronic medical record systems
  • Ability to interpret clinical data and understand clinical procedures and terminology
  • Current state license registration as an RN (Illinois)

  • Previous surgery, vascular, or procedural area
  • Prior experience working with clinical quality measures and registries
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
