About The Position

Amentum is a leading provider of engineering, scientific, and program management support services to some of the top agencies in the U.S. government, including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), NASA, the Department of Homeland Security, and the intelligence community. We are currently seeking talented, enthusiastic, and dynamic subject matter experts to support our Government customer in formulating, coordinating, monitoring, and transitioning advanced research and development programs in multiple areas, including hypersonics, unmanned air vehicle and autonomous systems, advanced sensors, propulsion, aircraft and space science systems. This is a full-time position based in Arlington , VA. Travel (up to 33%) will be part of the work schedule to participate in prime contractor tests at remote locations to include night and weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • Must have a PhD or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 15+ years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 20+ years of experience.
  • Must have an active US Government TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Please note US citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience providing daily interface with a Government Program Manager and integrated product teams providing proactive program management and coordination support.
  • Proven track record in technical, managerial or scientific fields and have expert credentials or be recognized as an authority and have the mature judgement required to advise senior government personnel.
  • Background in the application of systems engineering techniques and tools to the development of aerospace systems and demonstrated experience with the certification and clearance of those systems.
  • Familiarity with cost analysis, acquisition process, negotiations and system engineering.
  • Experience with DARPA acquisition processes and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and program management support for advanced technology research, development and demonstration programs.
  • Perform independent technical assessments and feasibility analyses of new technologies and system designs.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight during program execution throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Support weekly cross-functional technical coordination, interchange meetings, and major program design reviews throughout program lifecycle.
  • Develop certification plans in accordance with current military certification standards, review documentation, and report findings to leadership.
  • Support test plan development, readiness reviews, attend, monitor, and report on subsystem component testing, system verification testing and demonstrations.
  • Support evaluating new program concepts, technical proposals, and white papers; develop and support execution of program acquisition strategy, source selection evaluation, and briefing support.
  • Author program status briefings and technical reports.
