About The Position

The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks a Dance Teacher sabbatical leave replacement for the Fall Semester 2026-2027. This is a part-time (.75FTE), 10 month, exempt position starting on August 31, 2026 RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to): Teaching 8 + sections of Dance in the Lower and Middle Schools with the potential of teaching and Upper School Dance History Class Ability to create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that complements existing K-12 dance curriculum Willingness to be an active participant in the Professional Community including weekly meetings (Tuesdays 3:30-5:00) Complete grade reports (Lower School in December; Middle School in January). Ability to manage class sizes of 25 students and maintain a safe, supportive space for all dancers Contributing to curriculum development and revision in collaboration with other faculty Pursuing appropriate professional development to build content knowledge, incorporate new pedagogical approaches, and keep current in the field Additional tasks and duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dance or a related subject, MFA preferred
  • Embodied dance practice and expertise in ballet, modern, and jazz
  • Three to five years teaching Dance at the elementary or middle school level
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Employing best practices of pedagogy
  • A shared understanding of the mission of the School
  • Cultural competence and the ability to work thoughtfully and respectfully across difference
  • Imagination, kindness, and a generosity of spirit with colleagues and students
  • Excellent attention to detail, professional attitude, good judgment, a high level of integrity, and a strong work ethic
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with varied constituents
  • Superb oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to problem-solve, take initiative, and prioritize effectively
