About The Position

Under the direction of the Coordinator of Dance Programs and Manager of Athletics & Recreation Services, the Dance Instructor is responsible for the following: Using a set curriculum, conduct, and teach activities. Keeping all areas clean and safe for guests. Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; supporting all aspects of the Park District’s safety procedures. Performs all other duties as required. Hours: 1-2 days/week and Saturday mornings Essential Functions: The work requires some physical exertion in handling supplies and materials relevant to programming. Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping. Ability to understand and complete paperwork and record-keeping in order to complete duties. Ability to operate computer, copy machine, scanner, etc. Ability to lift up to 40lbs.

Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible hours, specifically nights and weekends.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with the public and Peoria Park District personnel.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Familiarity with the operation of general office equipment.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in dance, either as a student or as an instructor preferred.
  • Teaching experience and experience in customer service preferred.
