About The Position

The Des Plaines Park District, established in 1919, features more than 50 parks and facilities. As an Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency, we service a culturally diverse and growing community with hundreds of affordable recreational and educational programs, classes, and events for kids, teens, adults, and families each season. "Enriching Lives Everyday" is our vision and our constant goal. BASIC FUNCTION Responsible for the safety, education, and recreation programming for a variety of dance classes. Seasonal Position (8 week session). Average 18-33 hours a week, 5 days per week, 3.5-6.5 hours per day

Requirements

  • High School diploma or in progress
  • Must be 16 years of age or over, in-depth experience in dance
  • Must have cleared an Illinois State Police Criminal background check.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification, Classes available through Park District

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with ages 6-14.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all pre-season in service training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Responsible for the safety, education, and recreation programming for the camp participant as assigned.
  • Assist with end of day duties as assigned by the Dance & Arts Camp/Camp ReMix Coordinator.
  • Implement projects, and demonstrate choreography as directed by Camp Coordinator.
  • Suggests content.
  • Supervise and lead group activity sessions in both dance and art.
  • Communicate matters of importance with the prog Coordinator.
  • Submit routine paperwork, such as Incident Reports as they come due.
  • Enforce camp rules and district behavior management policy.
  • Work cooperatively as a team member with other program staff members.
  • Evaluates participant’s progress and performance on a continual basis for the purpose of immediately helping the participant to improve their dance skills and confidence.
  • Ensure safety of all staff and participants.
  • Responsible for executing emergency response plan and respond to emergency situations, as they occur.
  • Any other related duties assigned by Director and/or Camp Coordinator or Recreation Supervisor.
