Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions and responding to inquiries.
  • Engage in suggestive selling using telephone, in‑store intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one interactions.
  • Answer incoming calls professionally; resolve customer concerns and escalate to the Store Director when appropriate.
  • Rotate and remove outdated or spoiled product; maintain a clean, organized work area and department.
  • Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, signed, and displayed according to company standards.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Assist in other areas of the Grocery Department as needed.
  • Maintain understanding and execution of all required department standards and procedures.
  • Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain levels per division directives.
  • Stock, rotate, and maintain product; ensure back‑room and Dairy Department areas are orderly and fully stocked.
  • Supervise the processing of all reclamation.
  • Enforce proper code‑dating for all department products.
  • Assist with physical inventory every six months.
  • Control department shrink and manage cost effectively.
  • Ensure proper temperatures are maintained for all products during storage, display, and handling.
  • Use correct product preparation and handling techniques.
  • Operate related equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
  • Follow temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines to maintain product integrity.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, and stocking and rotating product.
  • Adhere to proper storage conditions, temperature guidelines, and packaging procedures.
  • Complete, maintain, and monitor all required records, including daily log sheets, sales and labor reports, and department logs.
  • Maintain accurate administrative paperwork and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards across the work area, cooler, equipment, and display areas.
  • Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating standards.
  • Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Operate computer software and electronic ordering systems to order product efficiently.
  • Comply with company grooming standards and dress code at all times.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
