Dairy Manager DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES — Dairy Department Lead Customer Service & Sales Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with strong emphasis on fast, friendly customer service. Assist customers by making product suggestions and offering helpful information. Engage in suggestive selling through telephone interactions, in‑store intercom announcements, and direct customer communication. Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer concerns appropriately and escalate to the Store Director when necessary. Product Handling, Stocking & Quality Control Rotate stock and remove outdated or spoiled product promptly to maintain freshness and quality. Ensure all merchandise is correctly priced, clean, properly displayed, and well organized. Maintain full compliance with temperature requirements during product storage, display, and receiving. Follow and enforce proper code‑dating procedures for all products in the department. Assist with physical inventory every 6 months. Control inventory levels to maintain adequate stock, freshness, and quality in accordance with division directives. Stock and rotate all Dairy Department items consistently to support availability and product integrity. Department Operations & Merchandising Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and visual appeal of the Dairy Department, including coolers, work areas, equipment, and display spaces. Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays to drive sales and customer engagement. Build displays, maintain shelf conditions, and support merchandising goals. Assist in other areas of the Grocery Department when requested. Reclamation, Receiving & Recordkeeping Supervise reclamation processes and maintain orderly, stocked conditions in the back room and all Dairy Department areas. Perform receiving duties including: Breaking down loads Verifying quantities against invoices Inspecting product quality Reporting shortages Stocking and rotating products Follow proper storage, temperature, and packaging guidelines for all refrigerated and perishable items. Process administrative paperwork accurately and maintain complete department records. Complete, maintain, and monitor required reports such as daily logs, sales and labor documents, and inventory records. Safety, Compliance & Equipment Use Ensure compliance with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating requirements. Comply with and enforce all workplace safety rules and sanitation guidelines. Ensure safety and cleanliness of coolers, equipment, display areas, and workspaces. Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions. Safely operate equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and the Sterilox machine. Operate computer systems and electronic ordering devices to place and manage product orders. Maintain compliance with company grooming and dress code standards. Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility).
