Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in‑store intercom announcements, and direct customer interaction.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately.
  • Receive and resolve customer complaints, escalating to the Store Director when needed.
  • Rotate and remove outdated or spoiled product; ensure work areas and the department remain clean and sanitary.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, well‑stocked, and properly displayed; maintain clean and organized shelves.
  • Follow and maintain department standards and requirements.
  • Ensure proper code‑dating compliance for all department products.
  • May assist in other areas of the Grocery Department as needed.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Understand and support department safety, cleanliness, and sanitation requirements, including cooler and equipment areas.
  • Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness; stock and rotate product according to division directives.
  • Maintain orderly, in‑stock conditions in the back room and all Dairy Department areas; supervise reclamation processing.
  • Control shrink and cost.
  • Assist with physical inventory conducted every 6 months.
  • Implement correct product preparation and handling techniques; operate related equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, knives, scissors, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Follow product temperature, storage, packaging, and labeling guidelines.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
  • Accurately complete, maintain, and monitor daily log sheets, sales and labor reports, and other required documentation.
  • Ensure product temperatures are maintained at all times and comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating standards.
  • Operate computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product.
  • Implement and follow proper procedures for equipment or software issues.
  • Comply with and ensure adherence to all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Uphold company grooming standards and dress code requirements.
