About The Position

The Dairy/Deli Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Dairy/Deli department. This includes preparing daily schedules, directing employee activities, ensuring in-service training, and documenting all training. The manager is tasked with maintaining a high-profit margin through budget management, sales goals, cost control, and waste management. Key responsibilities also involve ensuring high quality and proper quantity of merchandise through accurate ordering and receiving, rotating stock, setting up displays, and maintaining cleanliness of shelves, bins, tables, and coolers. The role requires accurate daily price changes before store opening to maintain price integrity and monitoring pull dates on all merchandise. Additionally, the manager examines products for resale or storage and arranges for equipment maintenance and cleaning with Store Director approval. Supervisory duties include managing department employees, carrying out company policies, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. The manager is also expected to provide extraordinary customer service, demonstrating a positive attitude, respect, and flexibility.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • At least one year of experience in the Dairy/Deli or Grocery Departments

Responsibilities

  • Prepares daily schedule and directs activities of Dairy/Deli department employees
  • Assures in-service training for all employees and documents all training
  • Maintains high-profit margin by approved pre-set budgets, which entails, but is not limited to sales goals, cost of goods, expenses, price changes, and waste management (shrink)
  • Assures high quality and proper quantity through accurate ordering and receiving
  • Assures all items in the dairy box are well within their expiration date
  • Rotates stock to assure high quality, fresh merchandise at all times
  • Sets up displays and stocks shelves, coolers, counter bins, tables, freezers, containers, or trays with merchandise
  • Maintains and cleans shelves, bins, tables, and coolers
  • Assures daily price changes are done accurately & completed before store opens; maintaining price integrity at all times
  • Monitors pull dates on all Dairy/Deli merchandise
  • Examines products bought for resale or received for storage
  • Arranges for all equipment to be fixed and cleaned (with the approval of the Store Director)
  • Manages employees in the department
