About The Position

Cytotechnologist - St. Mary's Hospital Thank you for considering a career at Bon Secours! Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Work Shift: Days (United States of America) Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position Cytotechnologists evaluate patients' cell samples to notice subtle changes to accurately detect precancerous, malignant, and infectious conditions. They provide patient clinical data or microscopic findings to assist pathologists in the preparation of pathology reports. Essential Job Functions • Stains, mounts, and studies cells of the human body under a microscope to detect evidence of cancer, hormonal abnormalities, and other pathological conditions following established standards and practices. • Performs specimen processing and special procedures with or without pathologists for adequacy as needed. • Functions as technical reference. • Correlates data and detects discrepancies (clerical and technical) based on review of GYN (gynecology) and non-GYN requisitions and computer data entry orders. Requirements

  • CT Cytotechnologist Certification by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)
  • Bachelors, Biology/Chemistry/Medical Laboratory Science (required)
  • Completion of Cytotechnology Program (required)
  • 28 CH of biology and chemistry (required)
  • 3 CH of mathematics or statistics (required)
