About The Position

As a MetLife Cybersecurity intern, you'll work alongside experienced security engineers, contribute to real projects, and share your outcomes and learning experiences with peers and leaders at the end of the program. Intern projects may include: Cloud Security: Implementing and validating security controls for cloud-native environments. Identity & Access Management: Supporting authentication technologies (SSO/MFA), JIT elevation, and automation. Vulnerability Management: Analyzing vulnerability data, assisting with remediation strategies, and compliance checks. Threat Intelligence & Awareness: Designing phishing/smishing campaigns and preparing security awareness materials. Governance, Risk & Compliance: Supporting teams focused on establishing and maintaining a framework to ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. AI Security: Researching risks related to GenAI platforms and supporting security reviews for AI models. Automation Detection Development: Design and develop automated playbooks to assist with incident response investigations.

Requirements

• Must have an expected graduation date no later than June 2028.
• Actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
• Understanding of cybersecurity concepts through coursework or hands-on experience (risk, vulnerabilities, controls).
• Coursework or experience with at least one scripting language.
• Desire for continuous learning in cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
• Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows/Linux).
• Demonstrates strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills with a high level of curiosity.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Python, PowerShell, or SQL.
• Exposure to cloud environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Experience leveraging AI/ML tools.
• Knowledge of Azure DevOpS.

Responsibilities

• Participate in data analysis for vulnerability management and remediation efforts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, architecture, operations) to resolve security issues.
• Support monitoring and alert management for security tools and platforms.
• Help develop and maintain security documentation and technical reports.
• Conduct research on emerging threats and technologies to inform security strategies.
• Engage in testing and validation of security controls and automation scripts.
• Share your project outcomes and learning experiences with peers and leaders at the end of the program.
