Co-op, short for cooperative education, is a program that provides students the opportunity to alternate academic study with full-time employment, gaining practical experience in their field of study prior to graduation. Cooperative education enables undergraduate students to balance classroom theory with practical, hands-on experience prior to graduation. Students alternate classes with full-time employment through University-approved employers. Generally, students are on co-op for a six-month period, alternating with six months of classroom study.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in cybersecurity trends, threat intelligence, and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with security tools and platforms (e.g., SIEM, endpoint protection, MFA) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the evaluation and integration of emerging technologies to improve threat detection and response systems.
  • Support the development and deployment of security awareness programs, including training modules.
  • Participate in threat intelligence gathering and analysis.
  • Contribute to documentation and reporting efforts related to cybersecurity achievements, challenges, and strategic planning.
  • Help maintain transparent communication with stakeholders by preparing summaries and insights for internal and external consumption.
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts by reviewing existing security protocols and suggesting enhancements.
