About The Position

The Cybersecurity Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level security architectures that protect Landstar’s confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This role serves as a strategic advisor and technical expert, ensuring security is embedded across all initiatives and aligned with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in cybersecurity
  • 5 years in an architecture or senior technical role
  • Strong knowledge of: Incident detection and response, end point security, network security, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, secure protocols, recovery strategies, policy development, audit processes, risk management, third-party risk management, and penetration / red team testing.
  • Cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container security.
  • Zero Trust architecture and modern security frameworks.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards: NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, SOC 2.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, firewalls, and vulnerability management technologies.
  • Strong ability to break down complex problems.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree
  • CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or CIAC (GSTRT, GCIH, GSEC).
  • Cloud security certifications (AWS Certified Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain enterprise security architecture frameworks, standards, and guidelines.
  • Design secure solutions for cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA).
  • Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for new and existing solutions.
  • Recommend mitigation strategies and security controls based on risk analysis.
  • Evaluate emerging security technologies and trends; provide recommendations for adoption.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and DevSecOps teams to integrate security best practices.
  • Define and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support audits and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert during security incidents and investigations.
  • Provide guidance on secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation.
