About The Position

Peraton is seeking a driven Mid-Level Cyber Software Engineer to research and develop innovative solutions for a best-in-class secure computing environment as part of a highly adaptable rapid prototyping group in Landover, MD. Our program provides support for a large Information Technology (IT) system for the Department of War (DoW). This program provides engineering support for all system elements, including development (hardware, software, and networks), systems and security engineering (integration, testing, and deployment), sustainment (logistics and field support), Network Operations Center (NOC)/Help Desk, and government user training support for the user community. The Mid-Level Cyber Software Engineer responsibilities include: Building proofs of concept for one-of-a-kind capabilities. Developing innovative solutions to modify and integrate multiple different kinds of software components into a cohesive, unified system. Performing peer testing and code review. Troubleshooting and debugging issues. Contributing to all levels of the architecture. Maintaining technical documentation. Developing familiarity with new tools and best practices. Collaborating with your team to author technical reports and demonstrate capabilities to both internal and external stakeholders. This role requires on-site support Mon-Fri This program allows for a flexible work schedule and is walking distance from a Metro station

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI security clearance. US Citizenship is required to obtain a US security clearance.
  • NOTE: SECRET clearance is required to start. Any offer to an UNCLEARED candidate is contingent upon successful adjudication of a SECRET clearance. If the uncleared candidate accepts the offer, Peraton will submit for SECRET clearance. Upon successful adjudication, a start date will be set and continued clearance processing toward TOP SECRET / SCI will be performed.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or another technical field with five (5) years of experience, Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or another technical field with three (3) years of experience, or a High School Diploma / GED with nine (9) years of relevant experience
  • Active Security+ Certification, or equivalent, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months from start date.
  • Strong knowledge of C/C++
  • Software development experience
  • Experience writing, testing, and debugging software
  • Experience with version control, issue tracking, and documentation tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Nice To Haves

  • An Active/Current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Linux development experience at user and kernel levels
  • Experience modifying and compiling large open-source codebases
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Coverity, SonarQube
  • Experience with dnf package management using local repositories
