About The Position

Cyber Security Summer Intern - 2026 Tri-State is an electric utility. We have a Cyber Security Intern opportunity for 2026. Students who have successfully completed two (2) to three (3) years of undergraduate study towards a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar technical degree from an accredited college or university are encouraged to apply. Seniors who will be graduating in December or are planning to attend graduate school in the Fall are also encouraged to apply. This summer position offers students hands on experience to work in and learn various aspects of Tri-State’s Cyber Security department.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with security tools and frameworks (firewall, SIEM, endpoint protection, security training, NIST, CIS, etc.).
  • General knowledge of networking and operating systems (TCP/IP, Linux, Windows, Routing, ACLs, etc.).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who has a willingness to learn.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Investigating and remediating reported phishing emails.
  • Assist in tracking, documenting, and responding to security incidents, from containment to recovery.
  • Support the vulnerability management program.
  • Supporting security awareness and training programs.
  • Research emerging threats.
  • Enhancement of Simulated Phishing Campaigns: Transition from quarterly to monthly phishing campaigns, complemented by targeted remediation training.
  • Systematically document phishing metrics to assess and guide program advancements.
  • Strengthen Cybersecurity Visibility: Conduct a comprehensive review and consolidation of multiple incident response plans across the organization to improve visibility and enhance cross-departmental coordination.
